BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) - Over the last ten years, more than one thousand Georgians have died because of domestic violence.
Law enforcers in Decatur County learned more about the problem Tuesday.
Representatives from the Georgia Commission on Family Violence spoke at Tuesday's law enforcement appreciation luncheon about recognizing the signs of abuse.
"I think if you're local law enforcement and you're responding to a case and you're now more aware of what those signs are, than we may be able to support a victim in leaving, maybe prevent a homicide, to be able to keep more safety for the victim, and also those children," said Program Coordinator Jennifer Thomas.
This Georgia Commission will present the same lecture Wednesday in Camilla and on Thursday in Cairo.
If you or someone you know is currently a victim of domestic violence call 1-800-33-HAVEN.
