ALBANY, GA- A two-car crash in Bainbridge sends one woman to the hospital and leaves her nephew dead. It happened in Bainbridge yesterday afternoon around 4:00.
We've learned that four-year-old Remington Walden was trapped inside a burning vehicle and died. The child's Aunt Emily Newsome has been admitted to Bainbridge Memorial Hospital.
According to Georgia State Trooper, SGT 1st Class Mark Godby, two vehicles were traveling North on Old Quincy Highway.
Godby says the Jeep Cherokee with Walden inside stopped to make a left turn on Hubert Drive. A '97 Dodge Pick-up, driven by 26-year-old Bryan Harrell, struck Newsome's Cherokee in the rear.
She was able to escape the vehicle. Bainbridge Firefighters, Police and Newsome tried to save the child, but they were unsuccessful.
Walden was in a booster seat at the time of crash. No tickets have been issued at this time and Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation.
